The MOBO award nominations party was held last night (9th Sept) at the Mayfair Hotel, London. Where it was announced that from Nigeria JJC, BANKY W & P SQUARE were are all up for the Best African Act Award!!!! This is pretty amazing news! The MOBO awards will be held later on this year at The Echo Arena, Liverpool on the 20th of October.
It’s hard to believe that this is JJC’s first time up for the award. JJC is a London-based songwriter/ rapper/ singer/ producer/ director JJC aka Skillz first rose to fame when he formed Sony Music act Big Brovaz. 2010 has definitely been a good year for JJC, he launched the “We Are Africans” Movement; which compromised of the official single & video along with 5 further remixes of the song and videos. The “Africa On Your Street ” remix included features from various UK artistes such as Tilla Man, Mo Eazy, Magnum & more. JJC also released the Nigeria remix which featured the Legendary Femi Kuti plus the Naija Street Remix which features various Nigerian artistes including the late DaGRIN (R.I.P). JJC also has a remix with UK rapper Sway who won a MOBO for best Hip Hop back in 2005, the single will be released on the 1st of October later this year along with a video.

Its also hard to believe that Psquare have never walked home with a MOBO award after being nominated 3 times!! Psquare have just completed their sell out tour of America. They also had a sell out concert in London @ Troxy earlier this year. Psquare were also nominated for a BET Award for Best International Act. Psquare are not just nominated for awards they do actually win lol. Psquare are proud winners of the 2010 Artist of the Year KORA Award which had a $ 1 MILLION cash prize attached to it!
